Cycling the Roof of the World
with Tim Goering and Dave Colbert
Saturday July 26th, 2025 5 pm


In 1986, Tim Goering and his buddy Dave Colbert rode 3000 km by mountain bike across Inner Mongolia, China, and Tibet to Nepal. Their trip was not approved by Chinese authorities at the time, adding an additional element of intrigue to their journey. Their journey included crossing the Tibetan Plateau and exploring a yak trail over a wind-scoured 19,000-foot pass in the shadow of Mount Everest. Tim and Dave will present a travelogue of their trip, conducted nearly 40 years ago, when China was just beginning to open to the west, and much of Tibet was closed to foreigners.
