Bookshop.org is an online bookshop with a mission to financially support local, independent bookshops. We believe that bookshops are essential to a healthy culture. It was launched in January 2020.   Bookshop passes back 30% of a book's cover price and part of the site's 10% profit-share pool to the local store selected.

Hiking in the Rio Grande del Norte - A Half-Century Story of Exploration
with Delafield DuBois and the Sierra Club
Saturday September 27, 2025 at 5pm

The Rio Grande is the big feature of the Taos Plateau. There are also many Volcanoes and an adjacent wilderness area with a inadequately- appreciated Rio San Antonio. There 's paved road access to many hiking and camping opportunities. There are also classic NM dirt roads, old trails, new trails, and off-trail opportunities for exploration and hiking. The following day (Sunday September 28) there will be a hike to Cerro de la Olla (Pot Mountain) on the west side of the Monument. It 's a 2 1/2 hour drive from Santa Fe, 5 mile round trip to the summit, with 1,340 feet of elevation gain. Given the last hour of access is dirt road, if it is too muddy, the hike will occur on the following Saturday October 4. Alan Shapiro will be joined by Del and John Buchser to lead that expedition. Given the long driving time, it will be a long day.
